Long time no Blog...

Hello!

Yes, I am evil... No blog for a long time... Not too much to update for the last few weeks, but now I finally have some details to share. ;)

Gestational Diabetes??
We went for our 23 week check up on 4/11 and everything checked out fine, but my glucose levels seemed a little high. (maybe it was the grilled cheese sandwich and chips I had before the appointment?!! - No one told me not to eat)

Subsequently, that resulted in me having to take the 3 hour glucose test to see if I would be diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. This long test consists of fasting for 10-12 hours prior to the test and getting blood drawn 4 times over the course of 3 hours. Needless to say not having any food for over 15 hours did not agree with my body... I like food... most of you know that!

On my way back to work from the testing, I suddenly broke into a sweat; I was so hot that I needed to open the windows and reach for my snack in the back seat. I thought I was going to pass out. So, I pulled the car over and ate my apple sauce and cheeszits. Apparently that was not enough. When I got to the office, I needed to sit in the lobby for fear of fainting. A good friend and colleague of mine, Rene, found me there and asked if I needed help.

Typically, I don't ask for much help, but I was pretty weak. I asked him to get me to our area and buy me a Fresca to help with my blood sugar. (Um... there is not any sugar in Fresca, just so everyone knows...)

When I was able to eat, I chowed down on a Panera sandwich (my favorite), chips, salad, BIG peanut butter cookie, a rice crispy bar, pretzels, and oh yea, the FRESCA!. Just a little hungry! :) I thought, heck, if I have gestational diabetes, I am going out with a BANG.

Now for the GOOD news, my tests came back fine and I do not have gestational diabetes. Hurray, but what an experience.

Needless to say, I have a new found respect for my Husband and what he goes through every day. (Love you honey!)
